This version combines the Heater frame with the Prizm Snow Sapphire lens, which is designed for bright, sunny conditions with plenty of ambient light, such as from a snow-covered or predominantly clear landscape. The lens enhances contrast and colour recognition, bringing out details more clearly, even in bright, reflective light.
Unobtainium nose pads and ear socks
Oakley's exclusive Unobtainium material grips better the more you sweat, rather than becoming slippery. Thus, it keeps the glasses securely in place during high-intensity exercise; you will not have to constantly push them back up.
Why is this more important for sports glasses than for ordinary sunglasses?
Most materials used for nose pads become slippery as soon as they get damp, which is precisely when you need your glasses the most – during a sweaty workout. Unobtainium reverses that principle: The more you sweat, the more grip the material provides. This is particularly relevant for cycling glasses: They must not slip during a climb or sprint, when you really need your hands on the handlebars rather than your glasses.
O-Matter frame
This thermoplastic material, injection-moulded by Oakley, offers greater strength and flexibility than traditional acetate, and is designed not to shift or warp over time.
What does this mean for the durability of the glasses?
An acetate frame may warp slightly over time, particularly in hot conditions or with intensive use, causing the fit to lose precision. O-Matter has been specifically developed for sporting use, where the glasses are exposed to sweat, temperature fluctuations and physical impact. The material retains its shape and flexibility for longer, so that after a few seasons of frequent and/or intensive use, the glasses still fit just as well as they did on day one.
Prizm Snow Sapphire lens
This lens has a light transmission of 13% and is designed for use in sunny and cloudy conditions with plenty of ambient light. The deep pink base colour enhances contrast and colour recognition.
Is a "snow lens" suitable for cycling?
Despite its name, the Prizm Snow Sapphire lens is not limited to snowy conditions. While it is optimised for bright, high-contrast situations with plenty of reflected light, such as from a snow-covered landscape, it is also an excellent choice for clear, sun-drenched days on a bike when you want to be able to make out plenty of detail across varied terrain. The lens, therefore, combines perfectly with the cycling-specific shape of the Heater frame.
- Road cycling, running and other outdoor sports in bright, sunny conditions;
- Users looking for a universal, wide fit.
- Users with a narrow face or head;
- Low-light or dark conditions – the Prizm Snow Sapphire lens is designed for bright light conditions, not for twilight or night-time use.
- Clean the lens with a microfibre cloth; never use a dry cloth or paper tissue, as they may cause scratches.
- When you are not wearing the the glasses, keep them in the supplied storage pouch to prevent scratches on the lens. If you often carry the glasses in a bag or rucksack, we recommend storing them in a hard case.
- Avoid extreme heat, such as a car dashboard in the sun, to prevent the O-Matter frame from warping.
These glasses have a universal design, in size XL (138 mm), with a wide fit that goes well with most face shapes.
Can I use the Oakley Radar EV Heater Prizm Snow Sapphire glasses for ice skating?
Absolutely! The Prizm Snow Sapphire lens is designed for bright, high-contrast conditions with lots of reflected light, which also makes it suitable for ice skating on a clear day, as well as cycling, running, etcetera.
What is the difference between the Radar EV Heater and the Radar EV Path glasses?
Both belong to Oakley's Radar family and use the same Prizm lens, but the Heater has a newer, taller and more elongated frame design than the Path. The fit and silhouette are therefore different, even though the underlying lens technology is the same.
Can I order separate Prizm lenses or a clip for my prescription glasses for the Oakley Radar EV Heater sports glasses?
No, Mantel does not sell separate spare lenses or prescription inserts for this model.
Are the Oakley Radar EV Heater sports glasses suitable for mountain biking?
Yes, Oakley develops and tests its glasses for robust impact protection in demanding conditions, making them suitable for road cycling as well as mountain biking.
